From photography to the arts, from design to ceramics.
In ceramics, I found a medium that enables me to combine all these languages, turning them into an authentic and tangible expression of my worldview.
About me
Adolfo Mendonça
I I discovered this passion while studying Equipment Design at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Lisbon. After graduating, I worked as an intern at an architecture studio and quickly realised that I wanted to deepen my knowledge of ceramics. So, I returned to the capital for another year to pursue that goal.
Upon returning to Terceira Island, Azores, my hometown and the place I always felt I was meant to be, I adapted my garage to create my own workspace. In February 2017, the studio was born.
The surrounding greenery and the sound of the sea... are essential for nurturing new ideas. They help me bring them to life!

essence
I Born in 1993, I was raised in an environment where the arts flourished, fostering a particular interest in painting and photography, mainly influenced by my grandfather, Mário Pereira da Silva, an amateur photographer and collector.
To start my activity, I restored furniture from my grandfather’s workshop, which, in a way, remains part of my creative process. As a result, when exploring drawing and painting techniques, I developed a unique style that is now evident in my work.

Ideology
I strongly believe in environmental sustainability and strive, whenever possible, to demonstrate this belief in my work. The pursuit of recyclable materials and handcrafted production results in objects with ethical value, reflecting the intention of raising awareness and encouraging people to preserve and appreciate nature.
Workspace
The garage has become a versatile space with distinct zones: a small office, a workshop, a photography studio, and even storage.
Among the walls, nature clearly dominates, and the sound of the sea floods the studio. Here, the pursuit of more knowledge and new techniques is ongoing, with the aim goal of blending handcrafted methods with design principles.
Each day, I dive into my creativity, where ideas flourish and new projects take shape.
